German Jewish refugees from NS Germany can be made out:
<In 1905 there were 400 Jews in New London. In 1932 the number had increased to appr. 2,000. By 1940 the Jewish population was 2,200, augmented by a new group of Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany.> (col. 1035)
