What effect did all this have? We have a non-Christian report of this, namely by the Arab merchant and diplomat At-Tartuschi from Tortosa in Spain, who visited Hedeby in 965. It says literally in his report [p.55]:
"Schleswig [Hedeby?] is a very large city at the [p.55] extreme end of the world's ocean. Inside there are springs of sweet water. Its inhabitants are Sirius worshipers (i.e., [Mother Earth] pagans), except for a small number who are [Jesus Fantasy] Christians who own a [Jesus Fantasy] church there." [p.56]

This means: Although Haithabu had been elevated to a bishop's seat in 948 and one of the first church bells in Scandinavia rang here, there were only a few [Jesus Fantasy] Christians in the city! The claim often made by [Jesus Fantasy] Christians that [Mother Earth] paganism had already lost its inner strength during the missionary period, that the Teutonic tribes had joyfully converted to [Jesus Fantasy] Christianity (as claimed by many medieval chroniclers and here exposed as a lie with regard to Rimbert, which also casts a significant light on other sources), the new [Asian fantasy] religion had an attractive effect, is exposed as a lie by the report of an Arab merchant. On the contrary, the Teutonic tribes believed that the King represented salvation and the connection with the gods. So, when the ruler is changing it's belief, so also the population had changed it's belief. But in the case of [Asian Jesus Fantasy] Christian belief this was not the case and the population changed it's belief only by military force by Frank kings, Danish or Norwegian [p.56] rulers bringing the population to [Jesus Fantasy] baptism.
