Priests as violators
-- Marcial Maciel
-- William Izquierdo
Translation:
<The Catholic Legion of Christ has allegedly found nine of his priests guilty of sexual abuse of minors, including the founder of the Order, Marcial Maciel.
"The prevention of abuse, the implementation of all relevant requirements and measures and the respect for the victims are the priority for the legionaries of Christ," writes General Vicar Sylvester Heereman in an open letter to all members of the Order.
"Sexual abuse, especially when committed by people who have consecrated themselves to God, is a terrible evil with tragic consequences for the victims and their families," it says at the beginning of the first part of the eight-page letter to keep raising awareness of the severity of these cases and the suffering of the victims.
Numerous allegations against religious priests
For this reason, the Order intends to focus on sexual abuse during its Extraordinary General Chapter in January 2014 after many allegations of sexual abuse against members of the Order have been made in recent years.
Previously, the religious community had been in the headlines because the Mexican founder of the order - Mr. Marcial Maciel Degollado (1920-2008) had a sexual relationship to a woman. Rumors say that he had fathered several illegitimate children and that he had abused them sexually. In February 2008, Maciel had died in the "USA" in the age of 87. There are also reproaches against him having abused seminarists. In addition, he should have given them the absolution for jointly committed sexual acts.
Cases of 35 priests investigated - [violators Marcial Maciel and William Izquierdo]
According to church law, cases have been processed so far by a total of 35 priests. Not all investigations have been completed, but nine priests have been found guilty, with Marcial Maciel and Father William Izquierdo inclusive.
Father William Izquierdo, a former teacher at a Connecticut Order organization, allegedly abused one of his custodial novices between 1982 and 1994 which was under his protection.
Two of the accused were expelled from the priesthood and seven were sanctioned. 85-year-old Izquierdo, who is reportedly suffering from severe dementia and has not been a priest since 2008, should not be punished. He was taken to an assisted living facility where he is treated appropriately, it said.
In 14 cases, according to the legionaries of Christ, there was no abuse, ten more cases are still under investigation, and two cases were former priests who could not be prosecuted by church law any more.
=======
Vicar General Heereman: "I can say with certainty that to this day all possible measures have been taken to ensure that no member of the Congregation, from whom we have learned has committed sexual assault, still has contact with minors."
Commission on Abuse Prevention
On Thursday, the Vatican communicated that Pope Francis installs a committee for the protection of children as a reaction to the numerous cases of abuse in the Catholic Church. More about this in the article "Pope installing a Commission on Abuse Prevention" (original German: "Papst führt Kommission zur Missbrauchsvorbeugung ein"). The board includes, among others, the Archbishop of Boston, Cardinal Sean O'Malley, and the Munich Archbishop Reinhard Marx.
The committee is expected to establish clergy codes and guidelines for dealing with abuse cases in individual countries and to help to verify the suitability of candidates for priesthood.
Thousands of cases of abuse in several countries have plunged the Catholic Church into crisis in recent years. Pope Francis announced shortly after the beginning of his pontificate in March, to act harder against child abuse in the church.

Feb.9,2020: Rapists in the criminal "Legionnaires of Christ": Fernando Martinez still lives freely in Rome - victim is Ana Lucia Salazar and 8 other victims (!):
Legionnaires of Christ: Woman who was raped by the priest will continue to fight for justice [PHOTOS]
<Ana Lucía Salazar points out that "she will never stop fighting and screaming until this man gets to prison." She demands that Fernando Martínez will be kicked out of the church in Rome by the legionaries of Christ.
Ana Lucía Salazar was 8 years old and studied at the Cumbres Institute in Cancun, Mexico. At that time, her only wish was to play with dolls. In the same year, 1991, however, she was sexually abused by Fernando Martínez, priest of the "Legionaries of Christ". Almost 30 years later, Analu's greatest wish, as her friends say, is that the clergyman stops living in Rome and enters a Mexican prison for being punished for raping her.
The young woman said that she would not stop asking the authorities that Martínez has to pay for the sexual abuse he committed on her and at least 8 other children from 1991 to 1995. "I never stop fighting and calling for this man to be put in jail with everything that came to light with his abuses, including those who have kept silent, accused of telling the truth", said the TV presenter.
[Criminal "Legionnaires of Christ" are NEVER arrested]
Ana Lucía Salazar therefore believe that the report, which explains the sexual abuse of minors by the "legionaries of Christ" since its inception, is a mockery of all victims because the criminal violators are simply never arrested.
"For me there will be no justice or impunity will stop until the one who broke my life pays for what he did until he is judged by a judge. I call that justice will change their law rating child abuse a crime against humanity so that there is no way to protect these violators, ”said Ana Lucia Salazar in an interview for El Universal.
