In the meantime, the Albertinum has long been closed. The building is built in the shadow of a dolomite rock of Gerolstein and is empty since years. There were attempts to install a living and service center there, or also a travel agency, all failed. Even before the so called "bosom mansion" changed it's owner - "bosom mansion" it was called because of the two round towers in the front. In 1927 a pharmacist is organizing the construction of the Dolomit Hotel near the train station. Until Second World War the travelers are sleeping in beds, pairs are celebrating marriages in the halls. But bombs over Germany are falling and the owner is giving up. National Socialists are using the mansion now as their commando center. After Hitler's deceit, the town of Gerolstein is mostly destroyed. The town needs a boarding school, the case is urgent. Thus, the then Chaplain of the town of Daun of 1945 coming from the managing board of the [Fantasy] episcopal seminary of the town of Trier comes with the order to install a boarding school. In 1946 the first children come, they sleep in 3 stored beds, they sit on boxes in classes.

And if the Albertinum was a jail, then the director was the superintendent. "He was a man like a tree about a meter ninety tall and strong," said one of the inmates describing the former head: "All were fearing him." The affected reproached above all him of mistreatment and abuse. Also this was only reported in 2010 the diocese says.
